ASUS: New Wi-Fi 6 Routers Announced, TUF Gaming AX5400 & ZenWiFi XD6

ASUS Malaysia recently launched their two new Wireless 6 networking solution namely, TUF Gaming AX5400 and their ZenWiFi solution, ZenWiFi XD6 into the Malaysian market. According to ASUS further, both networking solution identified to be in AX5400 Wireless Class with ZenWiFi XD6 comes in pair while the TUF Gaming AX5400 comes as a single unit.

The TUF Gaming AX5400 is a steep up of the current available TUF-lineup router model, the TUF Gaming AX3000. The company said the TUF Gaming AX5400 designed to provide 80% wider wireless coverage, featuring link-aggregation for both WAN and LAN connections with a tri-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz each, and 512MiB of RAM. Unlike ZenWiFi XD6, the TUF Gaming AX5400 designed for gamers by providing gaming features such as, dedicated gaming LAN port, Mobile Game Mode, Gear Accelerator, VPN fusion, and OpenNAT. The model said multi-platform compatible with PCs, console and mobile gaming through tweaking the Quality of Service (QoS) settings. As for the wireless features, the model features OFDMA, RangeBoost, 160MHz channel bandwidth with 4×4 MIMO for 5GHz band. The detailed specification is available for public access here. The model was said to compete with TP-Link’s Archer AX73 and D-Link’s DIR-X5460. ASUS further added that the model will be available in Malaysian market starting from July 1st, 2021 at RM838 along with 3 years standard warranty.

On the other hand, the ZenWiFi XD6 is the newest member in ZenWiFi Solution, aimed to provide a broader wireless coverage through utilizing their AiMesh feature. The model suitable to be used for large homes, condominiums, medium-sized offices, etcetera. As for the protection against cybercriminals, the ZenWiFi features AiProtection by default with zero-cost of subscription, and featuring a secure Wireless Protected Access Version 3, or in its abbreviated form, WPA3. Looking at its specification, the model powered by a tri-core processor assisted with 512MiB of RAM for extensive internet usage. Unlike other AX mesh units in the market, ASUS strives to ensure their end users don’t feel left out through providing top-notch features such as VPN server & clients, Port Trigger, DMZ, etcetera. The pair costs RM 1,499, and available to be purchased through Lazada and Shopee.

    My experience of Asus routers – if something doesn’t work they won’t fix it. Stay away.

    • Unless if the router supported by Asus-Merlin, then it is a good investment. Other than that, thou they won’t fix bugs in the firmware, they’re certainly better than other consumer-based networking gear.
