Huawei is a Chinese multinational company that focuses on providing telecommunication equipment and consumer electronics. Recently, Huawei announced their all new Huawei WiFi AX3 router to compete with other notable consumer networking brands.
The purpose of this guide is to provide the steps required to professionally tweak any Huawei router to successfully connect to the internet. I will be focusing on web-administration installation only as the router can be easily setup through any browser of your choice (use incognito or private window). The total required time to successfully connect to the internet is around five minutes.
Key in 192.168.3.1 on your browser’s address bar. You will be greeted with a EULA agreement documentation. Tick on ‘I agree‘ and ‘Allow the router to automatically update applications…” and click on let’s get started button.
Pick PPPoE connection and key in the user credentials provided by your ISP. In my case, I’ve picked Malaysia-Unifi with a predefined VLAN ID 500. You also can custom setup the VLAN ID (if required) by selecting Custom profile.
Next, you’re required to setup your preferred wireless credentials and router access credentials. Do note that, you can toggle off the prioritize 5GHz option to manually set up your 2.4GHz band and 5GHz band, separately. It is recommended to use a strong credentials for both wireless password and router login credential (both should be different and not the same password) for better protection to your home network.
This is the final step of setting up your network mode. I will leave it as IPv4 only. Alternatively, you can enable this option later in the web-administrative panel. Click on the next button to proceed.
The configuration process will consume roughly a minute before reboot just by clicking on the next button.
Congratulations, you’ve successfully set up your Huawei router. Now, you can further explore the features in the administrative panel to customize your preferred settings. You can further gain access to the router just by downloading Huawei AI Life application for android and Huawei SmartHome application for iOS.
